Investigating forms of presentation of the Artist’ Book.

The book on the table. /// The closed archives. /// The book in a box. /// The open archives. ///
The book on the shelves. /// The book underfoot. /// The book on the ground.
/// The book in an intimate space. /// The book as installation. /// The book in a working space. ///
The book as an object to walk around. /// The book as a concept for a space.

MatchBoox

‘MatchBoox’ started as a passion for rare books by the brothers Xavier and Emmanuel van Leeuwe. “We like authenticity and we like creative freedom. Coming to us makers are free to fill in their works as they have in mind. All things for what purpose normally hardly is any money and time at regular publishers. We make what we like. Although it might be economically impracticable, we go for creative benefit. We think it is our duty to surprise our readers and we don't accept the book to be limited by its traditional form. Our first project is called “BookBox”, handmade books in matchboxes. Together with our uncle and partner Richard Meier from Voix Éditions we made more than 50 BookBoxes. The collection is still growing the more interesting meetings we have with writers and artists.”
